Day 34: Remain
Jeremiah 42:1-44:23
2 Timothy 2:1-21
Psalms 92:1-93:5
Proverbs 26:3-5
"Please hear our petition and pray to the Lord your God for this entire remnant. For as you now see, though we were once many, now only a few are left. Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do...Whether it is favorable or unfavorable, we will obey the Lord our God, to whom we are sending you, so that it will go well with us, for we will obey the Lord our God." (Jer. 42:2-3 & 6).
I highlighted these verses today in my Kindle because I thought: "yes! This is exactly my prayer right now! Tell me what to do God and I will do it!"
And then Jeremiah tells them what God says and they say "well we aren't going to do THAT!" And they deliberately disobey God and start worshiping other gods.
So frustrating, but also, God, Lord Jesus, keep me from being like them! I am waiting to hear what You want me to do and I want to obey whatever You say...make Your voice clear to me and may I remain faithful to You no matter what happens.
I know I am prone to wander too.
"If we are faithless, he remains faithful" (2 Tim. 2:13). Thank You, God for that. I want to be faithful to You though.
I added a little bit to my reading today because I needed the encouragement...
Matthew 6:31&33
"So don't worry, saying 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear?'...But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you."
I am feeling really nervous right now about finding a direction for my career, how I will make a living...but I have to remember that God has a plan and He is faithful. He is Provider and as long as I trust in Him, I will be taken care of. It's not a promise that things will always feel great, but I can't go wrong if I am following Him and abide in Him.
