Go With the Flow
2 Kings 10:32-12:21
Acts 18:1-22
Psalm 145:1-21
Proverbs 18:1
Paul was a tentmaker and so was Priscilla and Aquila. Paul went from city to city preaching the gospel and he was able to do that financially because he made tents! And I guess that was a rather mobile business...at the very least if he ended up with no where to stay when he got anywhere, he could probably make himself a tent.
I like this system. I always liked this idea of finding something I could do to support myself while I ministered in whatever capacity. And I stressed myself out! "What is my 'tent making'?" But now I actually think I've found it, it's different than what I thought, but I found it.
I think "tent making" for me is just finding something to do, something to keep busy with, and support myself. Like, now I work as a host at a restaurant (I'm starting to train to be a server now too!). I am able to do ministry there, certainly. But I think my more explicit ministry is music. I love to sing and write songs and that is where I am most overtly preaching the gospel.
I think my "tent making" may change a lot throughout my life. For now it's working in a restaurant and while maybe I'm called to stay forever, I could also end up somewhere totally different..but like the mobility of Paul's tent making business, I am here to go with the flow.
